This was a school project to create a poster for another classmate's all-time favorite band. I created a poster for the K-pop boy band, BTS. The design features a central diamond heart graphic for a more abstract allegory than a direct boy band poster.
This poster was created for Cindy Au. She is apart of the BTS Army lol. The poster is for a fake performance date and location (June 13th is the band's debut anniversary). Ardent followers would not only need to approve of the visual design, but also make them want to hang it on their wall. Suffice to say, Cindy wanted to hang it on her wall.

This was my research mood board for BTS. I noticed their use of lavender and other purples, centralized graphics (when it's not a photo of the band), and line typography.

I looked to their light-hearted romantic pop songs to direct the visuals for the poster. I especially went after the lyric "I'm a diamond, you know I glow up."

Considering BTS has an entire cult following (dubbed the Army), I knew the name or the logo would have to be big. I wanted to create some captivating central imagery with a heart, a diamond, or something along those lines. I ended liking my first sketch the most and went with it.
